Commercial Energy Performance Certificates EPC are now required before sale, letting, construction and assignment of commercial property

By October 2008 all properties will require a Commercial EPC certificate prior to construction sale or lease. All types of units will be affected with new-build being assessed off-plan.

By October 2008 all buildings over 1000sq m occupied by local authorities or organizations providing a public service are required to display an energy certificate DEC which gives an operational rating based on energy usage of the building. These certificates have to be renewed each year (Please note this will be reduced to 250sq m and extended to all public buildings in the near future)
